Ballet is an important piece at In the Key of Dance and is considered our most essential discipline. Ballet classes focus on developing strong technical fundamentals, vocabulary, and proper alignment to support long-term dancer growth.
Classes include a structured format consisting of warm-up, barre, center work (adagio, petit allegro, and grand allegro), across-the-floor progressions, and reverence. Dancers also study ballet terminology and origin as part of their theoretical training.
Emphasis is placed on alignment, turnout, coordination, musicality, and the development of strong, well-placed ballet lines. Our goal is to train dancers to work both diligently and intelligently, while still fostering joy, artistry, and confidence in movement.
While ballet serves as our core foundation, we also provide comprehensive training in other genres.
