In the Key of Dance promotes kindness, leadership, discipline, individuality, and teamwork. To maintain a safe, respectful, and high-quality learning environment, all students and families are expected to follow the policies, standards, and expectations of the studio.

All students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all times while participating in classes, rehearsals, performances, events, and while on studio property. Respect for instructors, staff, volunteers, parents, guests, and fellow students is required at all times.

Classroom Expectations

Students are expected to arrive prepared, attentive, and ready to learn.

To maintain a productive learning environment:

• Students should remain focused and refrain from unnecessary talking during instruction unless recognized by the instructor.

• Food is not permitted during class unless approved by the instructor.

• Students should use the restroom before class, during scheduled breaks, or after class whenever possible to minimize interruptions.

• Students are expected to actively participate, follow directions, and remain engaged throughout class instruction.

Safety Expectations

The safety and well-being of every student is our highest priority.

• Running, horseplay, roughhousing, and other unsafe behaviors are prohibited anywhere within the studio.

• Students must keep their hands to themselves at all times. Fighting, pushing, hitting, kicking, shoving, grabbing, or any unwanted physical contact with students or staff will not be tolerated.

• Any behavior that threatens the safety, well-being, or learning environment of others may result in immediate removal from class and additional disciplinary action.

Respect & Professionalism

Students are expected to demonstrate courtesy, respect, and professionalism at all times.

• Professional classroom etiquette is expected. Disrespectful body language, eye-rolling, talking back, refusal to participate, intentional disruption, or defiant behavior will not be tolerated.

• Disruptive, disrespectful, threatening, intimidating, or unsafe behavior from students or parents is prohibited.

• The Teacher and/or Artistic Director reserves the right to remove a student from class when behavior interferes with instruction, safety, or the learning environment. Return to class will be at the discretion of the Teacher and/or Artistic Director.

Bullying & Harassment

Parent & Visitor Expectations

To promote student independence and minimize distractions, parents, caregivers, siblings, and visitors may not congregate around dancers during class instruction or interfere with the learning environment.

Personal Hygiene & Presentation

If behavior is determined to be harmful emotionally, physically, or mentally to the student, other students, or staff, disciplinary action may include removal from class, suspension, or dismissal from the studio.
